Port Sunlight Garden Centre is located on the site of an old open air swimming pool in the heart of the historic model village of Port Sunlight, which was created by William Hesketh Lever for his soap factory workers in 1888.
Today’s garden centre which stands on the site has changed enormously since husband and wife team Andy & Helen took over from Unilever in 1995, and together with their staff the centre is now a ‘hub’ at the heart of modern day village life.
Helen’s family had already been running successful nurseries in Liverpool and on the Wirral for many years prior to this and so Helen and Andy had all the experience and support that they needed when they embarked on the transformation of the then “Green Hand” garden centre in Port Sunlight.
Their approach is summed up in the company’s Mission Statement:
To provide excellent customer service, to all customers, all the time.
To encourage, develop and reward our team to help them to do this.
To inspire our customers, and each other, to get the best possible results from the efforts we put in.
To be the best garden centre we can be, remembering that size isn’t everything!
Port Sunlight Garden Centre is proud to be members of the Horticultural Trades Association – delivering excellence across the gardening industry.
