ABOUT OUR AIGBURTH SITE IN LIVERPOOL
Our story begins with Michael Wilkinson (Helen's grandfather) acquiring an allotment on Ivy Farm, later to become known as "The Barracks" and more recently as Fulwood Village. Between the wars, the family flower & vegetable patch moved to Livingstone Drive, adjacent to the former "Hamlet Free Church", other allotments on the Mersey Road site followed. The present DSS Centre in St. Mary's Road was once the site of a smallholding belonging to Helen's great uncle John, on which he kept poultry and tended various crops, it being conveniently situated opposite his butcher's shop.

With the purchase of the nursery, the partnership of M & J Wilkinson was born. It had been run as a nursery by a Mr. Hiatt, ably assisted by a formidable Mrs. Hiatt who took charge of all the "pricking out"! Also on the site was a cobbler by the name of Leggatt who occupied a rather dilapidated sandstone construction - called thereafter 'the cobblers shop'. In the early sixties, Norman Wilkinson rebuilt the original section of the shop, using sandstone from the 600 year old monastic buildings formerly occupying the site and his skill is still evident if you look behind the glass and aluminum.

The staff who have worked at the nursery over the years have been its greatest asset and for this we consider ourself most fortunate.

ALL YOU NEED FOR A GREAT GARDEN
Aigburth Hall Nurseries have a huge and varied stock of everything imaginable for your garden, whether it's a humble window box to a grand garden.
We've got so much, the Nursery looks a little like 'aladdin's cave'!

Have we got what you need? The answer to this question is, probably. At the rear of the shop we have an extensive outdoor section, including fruit trees, shrubs and bedding plants. There isn't enough space here to even begin to list our extensive stock or show photographs.

Gardening is our passion, it was yesterday, and it will be tomorrow.
