Garden Centre Assistants – Seasonal

To help create the magic of Christmas! Working on the tills and keeping the shop tidy, merchandising, pricing stock, moving stock and displaying items for sale.
It’s a big job…. it keeps us very busy.
There will be lifting of boxes and other items involved with this role. We have a number of shift patterns available on a rota basis.
Shift patterns include every other weekend.

We are also recruiting for Weekends only, Saturdays & Sundays.

Cafe Assistant – Seasonal Part Time 3 to 4 days

We will be looking to you to make our customers visit to the Café extra special. The Garden Centre Café is a popular place, it takes passion and energy to keep the orders moving and the whole place looking at its best.
You’ll have a smile for all your customers, and a smile for the rest of the team too. You will be clearing tables, helping customers, assisting In the pot wash area and serving food to tables.

About you: Energy and stamina and plenty of it, a sharp eye for detail and a positive, proactive approach to getting things done.
The Garden Centre Café is a busy place from Breakfast until the last slice of afternoon cake.

Christmas Elf

We are looking for a ‘Christmas Elf’ to cover the Queuing element of our Christmas grotto.

The job involves taking payments, whilst providing a fun experience for the little ones and the grown-ups as they come to visit ‘Port Sunlight Santa’ and Mrs Claus.

You may have experience of this role before in another grotto or maybe involved with a drama group. Whatever experience you have for this role you will need to be fun loving, animated, self-motivated and bubbly.  Someone who can stay in character throughout the day.
Costume will be provided.

Days required are Sat 30th Nov,  Sun 1 Dec, Sat 7 & Sun 8 Dec, Sat 14 & Sun 15 Dec, Fri 20, Sat 21, Sun 22, Mon 23 Dec.

Rate of Pay £10 per Hour

Hours are: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Furniture Sales Assistant.

An opportunity has arisen for a Furniture Sales Assistant to support the department in the retail areas.
We are looking for an experienced and reliable individual, with a passion for customer services, who is conscientious and patient, whilst takes a pride in their work. A flexible approach and experience of working in a busy retail environment are essential as well as a welcoming smile for all your customers and the rest of the team too.

The role will be responsible for the spring summer furniture ranges preparation onto the shop floor, the maintenance of the displays and the POS during the season and the customer service provided for the Furniture area.

During the autumn winter season Christmas lighting will be the focus of this role.

About you  You must be a good communicator and you should have previous merchandising and customer service experience with a flair for retail.
You will need energy and plenty of it, a sharp eye for detail and a positive, proactive approach to getting things done.

Plant Area Assistant Perennials, Shrubs & Trees

 Ideally having had experience in a previous Retail role with a broad depth of plant knowledge you will be able to assist our customers on the plant area with all things plant related. You will be someone who is passionate about customer service, polite and outgoing, and someone who will always put our customers first.

You will be responsible for:

  • giving advice to customers and maintaining a pleasant department.
  • Maintaining and watering plants on the plant area.
  • Creating visual and inspiring displays.
  • Re stocking of plants, sundries, landscape items and compost.
  • Helping customers to the car.
  • Using our EPOS system for stock tracking.
  • General shop floor duties and housekeeping.
  • Any other duties required by the plant area supervisor and duty manager.

This is a full-time role and includes every other weekend.
This role includes the movement of heavy items for display and delivery.

Job Type: Full-time

Rate of Pay: £9.40 per hour

Chef

Port Sunlight Garden Centre Cafe offers fresh food to order prepared in our own kitchen.

If you are a Chef de Partie or a Commis Chef we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join the Kitchen team in an established business with daytime hours.

You will be able to produce food of a consistently high standard, and be confident in all aspects of food preparation and service.

The Chef will be:

  • Experienced in a similar role and environment, with a genuine commitment and passion for food and quality service.
  • Responsible for maintaining health and safety practices and good hygiene in line with company food safety standards within our kitchen.
  • Be a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Working 5 days out of 7, weekend work included.
As a garden centre we do not open in the evenings with the exception of special events and functions.

Job Type: Full-time 40 hours
